A native of CT and a lifelong boater, Rod has an extensive background in the maritime community. He has sailed competitively for the past 35 years and participated in many regattas throughout the world, including many Newport – Bermuda Races, Trans-Atlantic passages and superyacht regattas. In addition to yachting, Rod has spent time working on commercial fishing vessels and tug boats. Rod graduated from Sacred Heart University in 1990 with a bachelor’s degree in management and economics.

For the last 19 years, Rod has worked strictly in the marine insurance industry. Starting his insurance career as an underwriter for a large property and casualty company, then moved into sales and product/policy development. He has worked with some of the country’s leading marine agencies and marine insurers. Prior to joining Maritime Insurance International, Rod was a program manager for Berkley Recreational Marine (W.R. Berkley Co.). Rod currently lives in Old Lyme CT.

Jim Desnoyers is a native to the Northeast residing in Connecticut on Niantic Bay. He grew up on the CT River and has been an avid boater his entire life, working at marinas in his youth to racing sailboats in the late 80’s and early 90’s and over the last 12 years has become and aggressive offshore and inshore fisherman with his son. Jim has many years experience in auto, home, and marine lending. Jim has been active in marine lending since the late 90’s and has built strong relationships with his customers, brokers, dealers, and manufacturers. Jim manages the Northeast office in Mystic, CT. for Intercoastal Financial Group, LLC. 

Sam joined the Newcoast team in 2011 with 20 successful years in financing, 17 specializing in Marine and RV. Sam enjoys the ongoing relationships with both the broker side and dealer segment of the market as well as the boat and RV population. “Everyone shares a common interest and has made a lifestyle choice that enables them to spend quality time with friends and family.

In her free time, Sam enjoys boating, running, kickboxing, weight training, hiking, traveling and spending quality time with my friends and family. Sam is a certified personal trainer and enjoys helping others reach their fitness goals.
